about eskay 2
eskay label is a cashmere-infatuated, mother-daughter team, dedicated to creating the highest quality, heirloom knits that will inspire your wardrobe for years to come. We take pride in our sustainably-sourced cashmere. All of our goods are hand-embroidered, hand-dyed, and most importantly, hand-loomed (knitted) locally in Los Angeles.
eskay label is comprised of Suss Cousins (mother) & Hanna (daughter). Suss learned to knit from her mother and grandmother in Sweden, and today Hanna is carrying on this beloved tradition by her side. Cashmere is special. As we (mostly Suss) love to say, "it is the diamond of yarn."
Suss, a natural creative, picked up her first pair of knitting needles at an early age. She moved to NYC from southern Sweden at twenty-two with a suitcase filled of funky 80s sweaters, determined to turn knitting into her business. Fast forward to moving to Los Angeles with her husband and her daughter Hanna, she opened her first store on Beverly Blvd. called Suss Design. It became her creative hub for 25 years. Hanna grew up in this store, and it's where the tradition of knitting and her love for fashionable knits developed - incredibly influenced by her mother.
Today, as eskay label, we share a love for hand-loomed (knitted), fully-fashioned cashmere goods. We crave creating one-of-a-kind pieces. The heirloom knits you hold onto forever as we have held onto this tradition of hand-looming as mother and daughter. We focus on designing pieces that will inspire nostalgia. Our most adored designs and ideas come to us when we are just hanging out, drinking wine, after a long day in the studio.
Did you know cashmere comes from goats? Cool right? And all of our cashmere in sustainably sourced. eskay label works within the practices set out by the Good Cashmere Standard which enforces guidelines in developing the cashmere. They help protect the grassland ecological environment, the goats and the farmers of the regions of Inner Mongolia. It sets the benchmark for making cashmere sustainable. You may have noticed our goat branding. It's our subtle reminder to ourselves that it is important to know where you came from. And that about sums up our humble threads.
